NorCal just built and installed new railings to match a set that had been built a few years ago. I had been concerned about finding someone to match the work but Mike’s work was precise and of the highest quality. My railings are posted in his photo library (they have a tulip shaped design). In addition to the excellent craftsmanship, Mike was a real pleasure to work with, professional, and his price was reasonable. I couldn’t have been more satisfied.

Several months ago, we were looking at custom metal railings and requested quotes from various companies in the Bay Area. Mike was assertive in contacting me. He was very professional and answered all of the questions we had. We sent him pictures of what we envisioned for our railing, and we were very happy with the results. They made our railing from scratch and installed it beautifully. We are still in awe of how much it makes our house look better; it’s quite a statement piece. We will definitely ask Mike to do our other projects down the road.

Here’s why NorCal Ornamental deserves a 5-star rating from me:  First is the work quality.  We wanted a handrail that is befitting of an all-new entrance to our home, including new stone steps, an enlarged landing, new redwood fence/wall and landscaping.  In addition to a beautiful, light appearance, the handrail that Mike Mendes and NorCal Ornamental built and installed is rock-solid.  Just as important, though, is the design execution.  We had no drawn plans to show.  We just referred to a few website examples and then, in words, described “a look” that we were hoping to achieve.  Mike took it from there and built a handrail that is perfect for the location and that complements all the other work we have done.  His work, alone, is a highlight of our entrance.  We could not be happier.

We connected with NorCal Ornamental to build and install new stair railings following a floor remodel in our home.  The process was very easy – Mike was very responsive and communication was done primarily through texts.  The extent of planning from my end was minimal – just a quick call to discuss and some example pictures, and the finished product came out wonderful.  Mike did a great job considering the impact of mounting the railings on passageway space, and I consider this job to be a huge improvement on what we’ve had before, vs. just a replacement. Thank you!
